Finally, a foxy lady on the beach that pays attention to me. But she eventually runs away like all the others. I was lucky enough to catch this one with her sister when viewing the sunrise in Ocean City, MD.
Standing on a sandy beach ridge with the self-possessed stillness of an animal that knows exactly how good its camouflage is, a red fox peers through a curtain of tall dune grass with amber eyes that carry equal measures of curiosity and composure. The warm russet and copper tones of its coat glow against the surrounding blades of green and gold beach grass, while the blurred suggestion of Ocean City's coastline infrastructure in the background adds a quietly surprising urban context to what is otherwise a thoroughly wild encounter. The fine white sand below its dark-stockinged feet completes a setting that feels like a secret the beach is keeping.
Wildlife and coastal photography fans will both find something here, but this print truly belongs to anyone who has ever walked an Atlantic shoreline and caught a flash of orange disappearing into the dune grass. Striking, warm, and full of personality, it brings genuine natural drama to any interior without sacrificing an ounce of elegance.
