Relaxing in the cool waters of Acadia National Park in Maine. The green mountains and refreshing lakes really make you wonder why the park is on Mt. Desert Island. The water was too cold for this Southern family, but you can't beat the view unwinding in the shallows.

Jordan Pond stretches out in glassy summer perfection, its mirror-calm surface reflecting a sky full of bright cumulus clouds drifting lazily between the two rounded granite summits known as the Bubbles, which rise from the far shoreline with the gentle, symmetrical authority of mountains that have been posing for portraits since before the park existed. A rocky shoreline curves through the immediate foreground in warm tans and grays, its stones sitting half-submerged in water so clear the bottom is plainly visible, while the dense spruce and fir forests blanketing every surrounding hillside glow with the saturated green of peak Maine summer. The whole composition breathes with an easy, unhurried fullness that feels like the definition of a perfect day outdoors.

Acadia faithful will recognize this view immediately and love it completely, but the sheer visual generosity of this scene requires no prior visit to appreciate. Bright, alive, and deeply restorative to look at, this is the kind of print that makes any room feel larger, cooler, and considerably more like somewhere worth being.
